Job Description

The world's leading private security organization, G4S, has an immediate job opportunity for a Shift Supervisor. As a Shift Supervisor you will be responsible for the supervision of officers and physical security of the site campus and its surrounding grounds. This position performs general security duties in the protection of persons and property and the enforcement of all applicable policies, rules and regulations of the client. The individual in this position must be a strong leader who provides guidance to all reporting officers to enhance the security of the client's site.

Specific Duties and Essential Functions

  • Act as liaison between G4S and client's senior management; oversee customer relations, ensure Physical Security Surveys and post orders are updated regularly

  • Assist with general operations management; provide supervision to Security Officers (e.g., implement standard security operations at the site, and ensure compliance through supervision) review disciplinary actions for consistency and propriety

  • Assist with general training management; ensure that contract-required training and screening elements for security personnel have been met; including maintaining required certifications and attending appropriate training

  • Ensure quality assurance and contract compliance and work to ensure a safe and secure environment for all patients, visitors and staff

  • Scheduling; assist with creating, maintaining and communicating schedules to Officers, maintaining overtime to a preset requirement designated by G4S

  • Monitor attendance, tardiness, shift changes and overtime usage, reporting any concerns to management

  • Investigate and report suspicious situations, possible crimes and other violations to management and/or authorities, as warranted by the situation

  • Communicate using Secure Trax TM, two way radios, CCTV, telephones and computers

  • Escort and interact cordially with visitors and/or facility staff, as needed

  • Perform other related duties as assigned or directed by site supervisor

Job Requirements

Education, Licenses and Certifications Required

  • Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent

  • Must possess, or be able to obtain and maintain, Class D/Security Officer and Class G/Armed Officer License

  • Must submit to any State-required training or other qualifications for licensing

  • Must possess a valid Florida driver's license if driving a company-owned or client-provided vehicle

Type and Length of Specific Experience Required

  • Possess a minimum of five years of experience either as a licensed Class G Security Officer or in civilian and/or military law enforcement

  • Possess a minimum of one year experience in managing personnel and overseeing training and development of personnel at the site level

  • Posses one or more of the following:

    • Service in Military Occupational Specialty related to law enforcement, security (such as Military Police, Elite Military Forces, combat arms) or any support role in a combat zone

    • Graduate of a Certified Public Safety Academy (military or civilian) in the law enforcement, adult corrections, or firefighter field

    • Bachelor's degree in law enforcement or criminal justice related studies

    • A minimum of 8 or more years of active service in any military branch

    • Associate's degree (or 60 credits) or higher in law enforcement or criminal justice with current or prior active military service

  • Must be at least 21 years old or the minimum age required by the state, if higher

  • Must be a U.S. citizen or a foreign citizen authorized to legally work in the United States

  • Must be able to work flexible schedules and respond to work assignments with little to no advance notice

  • Must be able to operate radio or telephone equipment and/or console monitors

  • Must have access to reliable transportation

  • Must have demonstrated ability to interact cordially and communicate with the public

  • Must submit to a pre-employment drug test

  • Must submit to an extensive background check, including history, personal references, employment and education verifications, and Department of Motor Vehicle and credit checks if applicable

  • Must be able to provide, upon job offer, a DD214 discharge document with discharge status indicated, if prior military

Environment: Office; minimal work in extreme temperature is expected
Major activity: Working on PC while sitting, walking, standing, speaking, listening, observing
Physical efforts to carry out job duties: Some standing, walking, bending and sitting. Limited stretching and reaching. Minimal to no stooping or kneeling.
